Clifford Shearing

Clifford Shearing’s principal research base is the Global Risk Governance programme within the Centre of Criminology, Department of Public Law, Law Faculty, University of Cape Town. His recent research has been focused on understanding the new, and emerging, harm landscapes/harmscapes that are shaping 21st Century (in)securities. A crosscutting theme of Clifford’s scholarship has been widening criminology’s boundaries. Clifford’s policy/applied work has been focused on enhancing safety. His current research has focused on environmental developments with an emerging focus on Artificial Intelligence. A defining feature of Clifford’s research as been its regulatory focus and the interdisciplinary nature of the research teams he has participated in and his associated collaborative approach.
